Gathering all the materials together, I began constructing the water filter.
- Cut the bottom half of the 2L bottle and turn it upside down and place it within a cup/or glass for the water to be filtered into.
- Use either a cloth or paper towel and stuff it into the bottleneck of the bottle as the last layer of filtering in the system to keep the carbon from going through.
- Set a layer of Activated Charcoal as the finest layer of material in the filter enabling it to remove any last bits of contamination.
- Set a layer of fine grain sand as the second layer to help filter any minerals that are too big for the sand.
- Next, is a layer of gravel on top of the sand to filter any medium sized sediment
- On top of the gravel there will be small rocks and big rocks to be the first line of filtering where any big debris or excess materials from getting through.
- Lastly, a coffee filter can be placed on top if needed as another level of filtering
